Answers to your Questions

General Questions

Are herbal tinctures safe?

Yes! Herbal tinctures have been used for thousands of years to support healing with natural roots, barks, and plants from the Earth. All of the herbs and tinctures used by Vitalize Wellness are safe. However, it’s important to review the ingredients to ensure you don’t have any sensitivities to the herbs in the products you’re using.

How are herbs different from prescription medications?

The most profound difference between prescription medications and herbal remedies is that herbs are natural (made from the Earth with no synthetic ingredients) and are used to address the root cause of an issue. Prescription medications, on the other hand, are created in a lab and synthetically manufactured with the goal of treating symptoms.

There is certainly a time and place for prescription medications. However, our goal with herbal supplements is to identify core issues and support the body in healing and recovering holistically. Because of this, it may take a little longer to feel the effects of herbal remedies, as they work to address the whole problem rather than just the symptoms.

Another key difference is that prescription medications often come with a longer list of potential side effects, while safe, natural herbal remedies are generally more gentle on the body.

Are herbs safe for children?

Yes, herbs are safe for children. However, it’s important to adjust the dosage based on body size (children typically need much smaller amounts than adults). Always check the ingredients to ensure your child doesn’t have any sensitivities to the herbs used.

How long do the herbs last?

At Vitalize, we believe herbs can last indefinitely if stored in a cool, dry place. However, industry standards typically recommend replacing supplements every 3-5 years. Use your best judgment and comfort level to decide when it’s time to replace your herbs.

Is it normal to feel sick to your stomach after taking the herbs?

Occasionally, people may feel a bit queasy after taking a supplement. The most common cause of this is taking herbs on an empty stomach. We recommend having a snack when taking your herbs to help minimize any discomfort. If nausea persists, you may have a sensitivity or mild allergy to one of the ingredients.

For those experiencing nausea after taking one of our detox products (mold, fungus, parasite, heavy metal, amoebae), try taking 1-2 droppers of a toxin binder or activated charcoal about an hour after your detox dose. Other common detox symptoms may include headache, a car-sick feeling, upset stomach, constipation, or loose stool. If symptoms are uncomfortable, try cutting your dose in half.

Bodies are all unique so it may take a little bit of tinkering to find the right dosage and method for you. If you need any help navigating this, please email us and we would be happy to help guide you.

The dropper for my tincture gets clogged. How do I fix it?

Occasionally, the dropper for our herbal tinctures may get clogged. We intentionally leave real herbs in our products to enhance potency, but residual plant matter can sometimes block the dropper.

To clear it, separate the glass dropper from the black bulb and run warm water through the dropper until it’s clear. Then, reassemble and use as normal. Using your tincture daily can help prevent clogging, as materials tend to settle at the bottom when left unused for a while.

How do I take the tinctures?

The most effective way to take tinctures is by using the dropper to place the liquid directly under your tongue for maximum absorption. Alternatively, you can add the tincture to a small amount of liquid and drink it in one gulp. If neither option is to your preference, you can order empty edible capsules, fill them with the tincture, and swallow them like a pill. Any method that works for you is great, as long as you’re getting the herbs into your system!

Why are tinctures better than capsules?

In our years of helping people heal, we’ve found that those who take high-quality tinctures often experience the benefits more quickly than those who take capsules. If you prefer capsules, that’s totally fine too. You can always put your tinctures into capsules to get the best of both worlds.

What if I don’t like the taste?

Great question! We don’t add any flavorings or fillers to our supplements (you’re welcome!), so the tinctures can definitely have strong, and for some people, undesirable flavors.

If you aren’t loving the taste, you can mix your tincture with a shot of juice and shoot them down quickly. Another option is to purchase edible capsules, which are inexpensive and widely available online or at many health food stores.

We recommend size 00 capsules (the larger the number, the smaller the capsule). Size 00 is large enough that you’ll be able to put your drops in the capsule right before you’re ready to take it and swallow it all in one gulp to skip the flavors all together.

Are herbs safe to take with prescription medications?

In general, herbs are safe to take in most circumstances. However, there are so many prescription medications, unique bodies, and special circumstances that we can’t possibly know or predict every possible interaction.

If you have any questions or concerns, it’s always best to check with your pharmacist when getting your prescription filled. You’re also welcome to send us an email with any questions and we’re happy to provide more details about the specific herbs you’re considering.

I see your herbs have alcohol in them. Can you explain the process?

Yes, you’re right—they do! We use alcohol to make our tinctures potent and shelf-stable for years. We start by soaking the herbs in high-proof alcohol (Everclear), which brings the herbs to their full, distilled potential. Then we slowly heat the mixture at very low temperatures, allowing most of the alcohol to evaporate. We then add in some coconut glycerin to improve taste, slow settling, and improve the shelf-stability. The final tincture contains less than 5% alcohol and is safe for medicinal use. These products will not have the same effects as drinking alcohol recreationally.

What are the steps to healing using herbs and juice?

Our herbs and juices can support hydration, detoxification, overall wellness, and even help rebuild your health after illness or injury. For best results, they should be used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Parasite-Specific Questions

Do I need to de-worm and is it safe?

Yes and yes! Parasites and parasite eggs live on everything we consume, breathe in, and touch. If you haven’t done a parasite cleanse in the last three years, you are ready for another.
Our parasite tincture is safe and contains only natural herbs, no synthetic chemicals. Even if you don’t have parasites, your body will still benefit from the nourishing properties of the herbs. But if you do have parasites, the tinctures can help your body eliminate them. Parasites are often the gateway to sickness and can inhibit your health and healing.

What will I see come out? I’m scared and I don’t want to see anything gross!

Great question. Our motto is better out than in! The good news is, you don’t have to look if you don’t want to.

Parasites can come in many forms and might look like cobwebs, seeds, sacs, worms, rocks, or other strange shapes. Some people see them easily, while others would need to dig through their stool to find them (no judgement either way!).

Trust us, it’s worth the risk of seeing some of these parasites to get them out of your system. We’re here to help you clear them out so they stop wreaking havoc on your health.

Do I need a binder?

Most people don’t need a binder to accompany our tinctures, but if you are concerned about not feeling well you can absolutely take one. If you do, make sure to take the binder about 60 minutes after taking the parasite detox so the binder doesn’t absorb the tincture before it has a chance to work. The binder helps absorb the methane gases released as parasites die, before those gases can make you feel nauseous.

It’s also important to have a bowel movement daily during a cleanse. The detox kills the parasites, but regular elimination ensures they’re actually leaving your body.
